The new Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant (RVWTP) will start serving residents in November.
Those on the Rose Valley and Lakeview Systems will come online by the end of next month, with residents on the West Kelowna Estates, and Sunnyside/Pritchard Systems receiving service by the end of December.
A statement from the City of West Kelowna noted McDougall Creek Wildfire recovery efforts affecting operation of the plant have progressed well.
The plant was threatened by the fire but sustained no damage thanks to the efforts of firefighters.
Additional testing and flushing will be required at times, which will need to continue when the plant opens.
Staff will provide an update on wildfire recovery, as well as testing and commissioning and phased approach to providing water from the plant at council’s Oct. 24 meeting.
The city has faced two major setbacks in its efforts to get the plant completed and operating; pandemic supply chain-labour challenges and the McDougall Creek wildfire.
A service area map of the new plant can be found on the City of West Kelowna website.
