Highway 97C was closed in both directions for almost 12 hours, on Sunday, May 12.

A tractor trailer caught fire early Sunday morning causing the Connector to close.

The incident occurred between Trepainer and Brenda Mine Roads just after 1 a.m., DriveBC stated that the blaze was blocking both directions of travel after the incident.

At 4:45 p.m. DriveBC reported Highway 97C was open to westbound traffic, however, the eastbound lanes remained closed.

Then at 6 p.m., DriveBC stated that Highway 97C was open in both directions, following the fire.

Yet, the eastbound right lane was to remain closed overnight while crews cleaned up debris.

Drivers were asked to watch for traffic control.

Black Press has reached out to The Ministry Of Transportation and Infrastructure for more information.
