Runners will be pounding the pavement in support of the Central Okanagan Food Bank on Saturday, May. 25.
The 9th Annual Hungry Hungry Half Marathon starts at 7:15 a.m. at the Apple Bowl.
The event brings temporary traffic changes to Kelowna streets as runners follow the Rail Trail west, passing through Knox Mountain, Waterfront, Stuart, and City parks.
The route includes sections of the Abbott Street running and biking trail.
The intersection at Clement Avenue and Cerise Drive will be managed by traffic control personnel from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Intermittent closures will occur at Mountain Avenue and Kelview Street, and Ellis Street and Bay Avenue.
Motorists should also anticipate delays at the crosswalks on Manhattan, and Sunset drives, and the entrance to Knox Mountain Park.
The event includes run/walk categories ranging from one-kilometres (for kids) to 21 km. Participants are expected to finish by 11:30 a.m.
The Apple Bowl running track will be closed to the public from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 25 for event setup and teardown.
