More than 12.8 tonnes of recyclable materials were collected during recycling pop-ups in Lake Country and Peachland in 2024.
There were 16 events combined in the two communities that provided residents with access to recycling services and diverted tonnes from the landfill.
“The success of these events highlights the importance of providing accessible recycling options for residents,” said Cynthia Coates, supervisor solid waste with the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO). “We look forward to continuing this initiative in the future.”
The District of Lake Country provided added incentive for residents to attend their pop-up depots throughout the year by offering a grand prize draw for an e-bike. Mayor Blair Ireland made the draw for the winner at the final pop-up in Lake Country on Saturday, Oct. 28. Dori Hewitson was the winner.
