The Uptown Rutland Business Association (URBA) is gearing up for an exciting year ahead after electing its 2025 Board of Directors at its Annual General Meeting on March 6.

With a renewed focus on community growth and business support, the board has big plans for the Rutland area.

“I’ve been fortunate to call Rutland home my entire life,” said URBA President Justin Bullock. “It is a true privilege to be leading URBA to support our businesses in the ways that are important to them.”

One of the board’s top priorities is exploring the creation of a true public space in Rutland, something that can rival the energy of downtown Kelowna.

“Our goal is to create a vibrant urban space where people can live, work, and enjoy entertainment, while also drawing visitors from across the city and beyond,” Bullock explained.

Looking to build on the momentum of Kelowna’s 'Meet Me On Bernard' program, URBA is considering launching something similar for Rutland.

“Perhaps a 'Meet Me at Roxby,' where a short walk leads you to any of the 24 murals in the area,” Bullock added. “We are considering various possibilities and encourage the community to share their input.”

Another key focus will be evaluating URBA events to determine which ones provide the best return on investment for its members.
