Two ambulances as well as the Kelowna Fire Department and RCMP are on scene of a two vehicle accident on Old Vernon Road, near Acland Road.

Reports of a T-bone type of accident came in around 10 a.m. this morning. One lane of Old Vernon Road is closed while emergency vehicles deal with the situation.

According to a Capital News reporter on scene, there are no injuries and a van T-boned a smaller car.

Old Vernon Road and nearby Rutland Road has faced traffic issues since the realignment of the road as part of the the Ministry of Transportation highway project.

That project closed the highway on-ramp by Auction World off Sexsmith Road and Old Vernon Road as construction of the highway project began between Highway 33 and Sexsmith.

Detour options for the closed Highway 97 accesses are available via the new Rutland Road, Acland Road and Edwards Road until the ultimate configurations of the Sexsmith Road Intersection and the new Rutland Road Intersection are completed.

The entire six-laning project is scheduled to be complete next spring.
