Kelowna Mounties busted another massive grow op this weekend, adding 5,500 plants in what appears to be a bit of a winning streak.
Const. Kris Clark said the RCMP drug section executed a drug warrant on a home on Upper Mission Drive this Saturday.
“Police seized over 5,500 marijuana plants (in various stages of development) as well as a hydro bypass,” he said. Drug Section officers also took down lamps and growing equipment in the basement operation.
A 36-year-old man from Vernon and a 32-year-old man from Kelowna were arrested. Police were also looking for a 24-year-old woman from Merritt but she was not home at the time.
All face several charges for possessing and tracking drugs, and are also accused of stealing hydro.
All in all, the bust is quite similar to a Belgo Road raid that played out last week.
In that event, the Mounties seized 3,600 pot plants.
“It feels like I’m in the Twilight Zone,” said Clark, adding “you don’t see two big busts like this every day.”
