The Canadian Red Cross and London Drugs are inviting young people across Western Canada aged 10 to 18 to participate in Lemonade For Change this summer.

#LemonadeforChange is about youth using their entrepreneurial spirit to create and share a lemonade stand in their neighbourhood and on social media, and donate the funds they raise to the Canadian Red Cross. redcross.ca/lemonadeforchange.

The funds will aid in relief efforts in their own communities. From now until Aug. 31, participants will be eligible to win prizes including tickets to community and global-minded events in the fall, WE DAY Vancouver and WE DAY Alberta.

“Canadian Red Cross and London Drugs have partnered on a variety of important initiatives for several years now,”  Kimberley Nemrava, vice-president, Canadian Red Cross B.C. & Yukon, said in a press release.

“With this modern twist on the lemonade stand, youth can get their creative juices flowing and encourage their communities to join them in their fundraising efforts. Whether it’s a forest fire or another disaster or emergency, funds raised through Lemonade for Change will help the Red Cross and local communities be ready during times of great need,” Nemrava said.

“Everyone loves the local neighbourhood lemonade stand. Lemonade for Change celebrates a youth’s decision to participate, to assist in even a small way, in helping fellow members of the community,” said Kevin Sorby, GM of retail operations for London Drugs.
