Canvassing campaign questioned

The Okanagan Boys and Girls Club wants to alert the public there is no door-to-door fundraising campaign going on.

In recent days, a young person has been visiting local neighbourhoods, like Toovey Heights, claiming to be collecting donations for the Westside Boys and Girls Club.

But the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club wants to alert the public that no such campaign for the club’s Westside facility has been authorized or is taking place.

The Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs don’t participate in door to door campaigns a general policy.

If approached to donate money in this manner, the public is asked to contact the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs at 250-762-3914 or call Kelowna RCMP.

The boys and girls club’s current fundraiser is a raffle prize, with tickets on sale at all club facilities or by making a request via email at specialevents@boysandgirlsclubs.ca.

The grand prize is a WestJet boucher for two.

Proceeds of the ticket sales help support the programs and services offered to Okanagan families.
