The Capital News will change its publication days from three to two editions weekly starting the week of Sept. 15.
The current delivery days of Tuesday-Thursday-Friday will change to a Wednesday-Friday publication schedule.
Karen Hill, publisher of the Capital News, said the newspaper’s long-term commitment to the Central Okanagan will not change, as we will continue to provide the best local news coverage both in print and online.
Hill said the Wednesday-Friday delivery frequency aligns the Capital News with larger newspaper markets in the Okanagan, including Penticton (Wednesday-Friday), Vernon (Sunday-Wednesday-Friday) and Salmon Arm (Wednesday-Friday).
Over the last several years, Hill said all Black Press community newspapers, with the exception of the Vernon Morning Star, have gone to two editions a week, and most community newspapers across Canada that were three issues per week have evolved now into that two-issue model.
“There was a great deal of thought put forward to reach this decision but I feel it is the best decision we can make for the newspaper moving forward,” Hill said.
“We are a strong and vibrant newspaper and have exciting changes planned for the coming months.
“I am committed to making this change a success as we have a great team that gives me the confidence to continue providing the best local news content product in the Central Okanagan.”
