Charges laid in Kelowna hammer attack

Woman hospitalized after attack in Mission-area home.

Charges have been laid in connection with the attack on a 57-year-old Kelowna woman last week, who was hospitalized after she was assaulted with a hammer.

Conor Frederick Grossmith was charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon and aggravated assault in Kelowna court Monday.

The woman was taken to hospital in critical condition Thursday night after the attack. The man charged is believed to be her 24-year-old son.

Mounties received a report of a domestic disturbance on Mission Springs Drive, Sept. 13 shortly after 9  p.m.

“The report indicated that a woman had been struck with a hammer. Emergency crews rushed the woman to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries,” said RCMP Const. Kris Clark at the time.

“A 24-year-old Kelowna male was arrested at the scene and is currently in police custody.”
