The City of West Kelowna is asking residents to park their cars off local streets as significant snowfall is expected to hit the region overnight.

The city warns residents that if streets are cluttered with cars, plows may be unable to clear snow in their neighborhoods.

Parking your car off the street for up to 48 hours after snowfall ends, not shovelling snow from your driveway back onto the street and to remove snow from sidewalks bordering your property are things the city said residents can do to help make snowfall removal easier for plows.

During the snowfall, the city said crews will focus snow clearing efforts on bus routes and busier roads before moving on to lower priority streets.

Residents are also asked to call the city if their street hasn’t been plowed 48 hours after the snowfall has ended.

Environment Canada expects up to 10 centimeters to fall in West Kelowna and Peachland overnight as a weather system passes over the area.
