A portion of Gellatly Road, north of Angus Drive, is closed to vehicles as construction begins on the third phase of Gellatly Road upgrades.

During the construction, traffic will be detoured using Angus Drive. Large commercial trucks and vehicles towing boat trailers are asked to access the area south of Angus Drive—Cove Resort, Gellatly boat launch, Gellatly Nut Farm, West Kelowna Yacht Club and Willow Beach—using Gellatly Road South via the Highway 97/Glenrosa Road interchange.

Council awarded the construction contract to R & L Excavating Ltd. for $2.29 million on March 12.

The project will include: Upgrades to the road, concrete curb and gutter, cycling lanes, ornamental street lights, a new retaining wall between the road and exiting waterfront walkway, parallel and angle parking, pathway improvements, pedestrian outlooks, 70 street side trees and benches.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of June.
