Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety and Kelowna-Lake Country MP Ron Cannan have commended the Kelowna and Boundary regional RCMP for their efforts in locating and shutting down a clandestine drug ‘super lab’ in Westbridge, B.C.
The facility consisted of an exothermic reaction MDMA lab, which manufactured 3,4 Methylenedioxymethamphetamine. Members of ‘E’ Division Clandestine Lab Enforcement and Response Team successfully dismantled the lab. Additional chemical precursors were seized at a storage locker in Kelowna.
“The production and trafficking of illicit drugs is one of the root causes of violent crime and is an activity for which this government has zero tolerance. We commend the efforts of the RCMP, whose vigilance prevented this dangerous substance from taking its toll on our citizens,” said Cannan.
“The benefit to Canadian families and communities that results from removing these drugs from our streets is priceless. Our message to those who would attempt to threaten the well-being of our citizens is clear: we are committed to providing law enforcement with the tools and resources they need to ensure that our communities are safer places to live, work and raise our families.”
