Fire damages duplex

Fire crews were called to a blaze at home in Rutland early Tuesday morning.

Residents of a unit in a duplex in Rutland are out of their home after a fire started on the second floor.

Fire crews were called to the house in the 500 block of Milex Court about 4 a.m., Tuesday, where they discovered heavy flames on one side of the duplex.

The blaze was quickly extinguished but not before causing heavy damage to the structure.

While the cause of the fire not appear to be suspicious in nature it is under investigation by the Kelowna Fire Department.

Kelowna Fire responded with 4 Engines, 1 rescue Vehicle, 1 Safety vehicle and a Command vehicle and 20 personnel.
