Garage lost in Kelowna neighbourhood fire

Kelowna Fire Department responded to a 911 report of a  residential detached garage fire, just before noon today on Laurier Avenue.

First arriving crews saw heavy black smoke and visible flame coming from inside garage, said platoon captain Kelly Stephens, in a press release.

“Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire, but  the fire and smoke had destroyed the garage and contents,” he said. No damage on the house was reported.

Two people and a pet were home at the time but they managed to vacate without injury.

Fortis , BC Ambulance and RCMP attended. One person was looked at by EHS but not transported to hospital.

Kelowna Fire Dept. Investigators are on scene to determine cause

Kelowna Fire Department would like to remind everyone to keep all matches and lighters in a safe place outside the reach of children. Have a guard in front of fireplaces.
