Kelowna Mounties are looking to speak with a man who offered a teenage girl a ride Wednesday morning.

The girl was walking westbound on Springfield Road near Ziprick Road at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning when an unknown man offered her a ride by yelling across four lanes of traffic from the eastbound lane. The girl declined the offer and continued on her way.

According to Const. Kris Clark, she became frightened after she noticed the stranger’s vehicle complete a u-turn.

She was able to get to her destination safely, then notified an adult who then called police.

The man is described as East Indian and likely in his 40s. He was driving an older red Dodge Caravan or minivan.

Mounties are simply looking to speak with the man. If you have any information, call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.

Police are also asking parents to have a conversation with their children to increase safety awareness.
