Good morning Kelowna, for Wednesday Dec. 7, 2016

It's all about the weather this morning. It's -9 C to start our day. Take extra care bundling up today, specially the kids.

  • Dec. 7, 2016 11:00 a.m.

1. Weather outlook: It’s cold! The Weather Office calls for -9 C this morning climbing slightly to -7 C. Wind is the thing that will chill you to the bone — 20 km/h from the north. Golden lining: It’s so cold out because there’s not much cloud to insulate us. It should return this evening but bring with it periods of snow.

2. Power outages postponed: If you live on the Westside of Okanagan Lake, you’re in the pink this morning. Planned work to to upgrade the electrical water distribution system at Killiney Beach, Westshore Estates and Upper Fintry-Shalal Road-Valley of the Sun have been postponed due to the cold weather.

3. If you’re planning on some early season skiing at Big White, take your bundling up very seriously. The temperature will get up to -18 C under mostly clear skies, but it will feel like it’s much colder with winds 14 km/h from the north.

4. The Kelowna Rockets drop the puck tonight against the Seattle Thunderbirds, 7:05 p.m. at Prospera Place in Kelowna.
