Hedley fires quickly snuffed out

Forestry crews was on scene this morning doing further cleanup

There were three small fires that started at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday night, just outside of Hedley.

The smallest was two kilometres west of Hedley and motorists passing by reportedly put out the fire.

A fire also broke out about one kilometre east of Hedley on the north side of the highway near the cemetery. Hedley firefighters were able to extinguish that fire.

A third fire at the same time grew to more than a hectare on the north side of the Highway, opposite the little white church.

Hedley firefighters and forestry crews worked for hours to contain that fire.

Forestry was on scene this morning doing further cleanup.
