Olympic silver medalist Kelsey Serwa will arrive back in Kelonwa on Thursday and city officials will be at the airport to welcome her. And they hope the public will be there too.
Serwa, who finished second in ski cross in Sochi, Russia last week, will arrive at Kelowna International Airport from Sochi Feb. 27 at 2:20 p.m.
A short presentation by the city, Pacific Sport and the local ski industry officials will take place in the main terminal building.
The public is invited to attend and is being urged to wear wear red and white to welcome Serwa home.
Competing in her second winter Olympic Games, Serwa placed second in ski Cross behind Canadian team mate Marielle Thompson of Whistler in the women’s ski cross final. Aftert he race, both women said they helped each other down the course and were delighted to share the podium.
At the 2010 winter games in Whistler, Serwa place fifth overall.
In addition to her success at the Olympics, Serwa is also is a world champion in her sport, as well as a national champion and an X-Games gold medalist.
