The 22-year-old Kelowna man is facing a number of criminal charges, including assault, after an early morning incident yesterday.

The 22-year-old Kelowna man is facing a number of criminal charges, including assault, after an early morning incident yesterday.

Kelowna RCMP received a report of an assault that had just occurred in a house on the 500 block of Girard Road,  May 8  at 2:37 a.m.

“A 22-year-old Kelowna man apparently engaged in a verbal altercation with a resident of the home before assaulting her as well as another male resident,” said Const. Kris Clark.

“The suspect fled the scene on foot but was later located nearby through the combined efforts of uniformed officers and a Police Service Dog.”

The suspect male was found to be in possession of a men’s mountain bike that police believe was taken from a property in the area of Bach Road and Hemlock Road.

The 22 year old Kelowna man faces possible criminal charges of Assault, Uttering Threats, Theft Under $5,000 and Mischief Under $5,000. He was later released on a Promise to Appear for Court on August 21, 2014.

Police are looking to return the recovered bicycle to its owner. If you believe the bicycle to be yours, please contact Cst O’Donaghey at 250-762-3300 in order to make arrangements to claim it.
