Police have identified a suspect and returned the purse of an elderly woman who had it ripped from her Tuesday.

Police have identified a suspect and returned the purse of an elderly woman who had it ripped from her Tuesday.

The Kelowna RCMP received a report of a robbery in the parking lot of Save On Foods, located at 3175 Lakeshore Road, on Sept. 18 at 10:15 a.m.

“Apparently, a man grabbed an elderly woman’s purse from her shopping cart and fled the scene on foot. The suspect was chased by witnesses to a nearby apartment complex but he was not apprehended,” said Const. Kris Clark.

“Police were later able to identify the suspect as a 29 year old Kelowna man and also recovered the stolen purse. The elderly woman did not suffer any physical injuries.”

No charges have yet been laid but the investigation is ongoing. It is anticipated that charges will be recommended pending further investigation.
