Kelowna teen arrested with bounty of marijuana and magic mushrooms

One teenager’s suspicious behaviour prompted some police surveillance and a related seizure of a hefty supply of illicit substances.

Following a police unit’s May 14 surveillance of suspicious activity at a home in the area of Gordon Drive and Harvey Avenue, police apprehended a 19-year-old man. Upon searching him, they found three baggies of marijuana and he was arrested for Possesssion for the Purpose of Trafficking, said Const. Steve Holmes.

“Police then conducted a drug search warrant on the suspect’s residence in the 1000-block of Harvey Avenue,” said Holmes.

“There police seized over four pounds of dried marijuana, a quarter pound of psilocybin (magic) mushrooms and $33,000 in cash from the resident.”

The suspect was released on a Promise to Appear in Court at a future date to face a recommended charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.
