Kitchen fire short-lived at Kelowna casino

Small blaze in electrical outlet contained quickly at Chances on Sunday morning

The Kelowna Fire Department extinguished a small kitchen fire Sunday morning at Chances casino.

Chances in Kelowna was evacuated on Sunday morning while a small fire in a wall was quickly brought under control by the Kelowna Fire Department.

The captain of the KFD attack team said the fire was small in nature and was contained to one electrical outlet in the kitchen.

Chances security and staff safely evacuated the building on Springfield Road prior to 9 a.m., then reopened to the public at 9:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

The BC Safety Authority will be called in to investigate.
