Good Samaritan dragged behind own vehicle when it was stolen in Langley

Arrest warrant issued for Mark Sameer Batraki in connection to the hit-and-run

A Good Samaritan who pulled over to help when he saw a car on fire in south Langley was dragged behind his own vehicle as it was being stolen from the scene in April.

Langley RCMP have now issued an arrest warrant for a man wanted in connection with that hit-and-run that injured the Good Samaritan.

Mark Sameer Batraki, a 42-year-old Langley man, is alleged to have been involved in the incident on April 6. He has been charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm and theft of a motor vehicle.

It’s alleged the Good Samaritan pulled over to offer aid after seeing a vehicle on fire. A man at the scene asked the Good Samaritan for a ride. When he said he couldn’t, the suspect jumped into the Good Samaritan’s work truck and drove off, said Langley RCMP.

The victim grabbed the door handle in an effort to stop the suspect, and was consequently dragged for some time. He suffered injuries and was taken to hospital.

Batraki is a five-foot-10, 190-pound middle Eastern man with brown hair and hazel eyes.

His last known address was in Kelowna, however it is unknown where he is at this time.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Batraki is asked to call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 or should you choose to remain anonymous, call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or click here.
