A Kelowna man is in custody and another was sent to the hospital after a dispute between the two men turned violent this morning.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 8:45 a.m., the Kelowna RCMP received a complaint of an assault involving a gun on the 2300 block of Richter Street.

Apparently a dispute between two men suddenly turned violent when the resident, a 31-year-old Kelowna man, brandished a handgun and struck the other man with it.

The 44-year-old Kelowna man suffered non-life threatening injuries and was later taken to hospital for treatment.

The 31-year-old man was taken into custody and efforts were ongoing Tuesday afternoon to retrieve the firearm from the home.

No charges had  been laid by 1:20 p.m. as police continued to investigate. It is too early in the investigation to determine if or when the younger man would be released. He could face multiple potential charges related to the incident.
