Sharpening a knife on a transit bus landed a 54-year-old Kamloops man behind bars on Monday night.

RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said the man was on a city bus at 7:20 p.m. and sharpening a knife, which she said was making other passengers feel uncomfortable.

“When the bus driver asked him to get off of the bus, the male threatened the driver,” Shelkie said.

The bus driver stopped the vehicle on Lansdowne Street, Mounties stepped on to the vehicle and the man was arrested without incident. Shelkie said a four-inch knife and sharpener were found in his pocket.

The man is expected to appear in Kamloops Law Courts on Tuesday, facing charges of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and uttering threats.
