Mobile home fire

No cause was immediately apparent in Kelowna mobile home fire.

At 3:11 am September 17, the Kelowna Fire Department responded to a 911 call reporting a residence on fire at Okanagan Villa Mobile Home Park on Findlay Road in Kelowna.

Crews encountered a fully involved structure fire when they arrived.

The fire was extinguished before spreading to neighboring units but damage to the mobile home was extensive.

A vehicle in the carport also burned.

The lone occupant woke up to the sound of his smoke alarm and escaped the residence unharmed, along with his cat.

Three engines, one rescue vehicle and one command vehicle, along with RCMP and BCAS responded to the emergency call.

A  Kelowna Fire Department investigator was called in to determine a cause for the fire.

The Kelowna Fire Department reminds everyone to check their smoke alarms regularly to be sure they are in good working order.
