Mugger comes up empty

Suspect attempts to rob a West Kelowna man while he was working on his car.

A man working on his car in West Kelowna on Thursday night found himself falling prey to an attempted mugging.

While working on his car in an area of Bering Road and Carrington Road at about 7 p.m., a man was approached from behind by a male suspect.

The suspect put his hand on the victim’s shoulder, told him not to move and demanded his wallet.

The suspect told the victim he would cut him if he didn’t obey, and produced an exacto-type knife.

When the victim held up a screwdriver and said he had no money on him, the suspect turned and fled the scene on a bicycle, bound for Gellatly Road.

The suspect is described as male caucasian, 20 to 25 years of age, 5-foot-7, slim, 140 lbs, light brown hair and brush cut, wearing a white tshirt and blue jeans, each looking like they had paint or rust on them.  He was riding a medium sized dark mountain bike.
