No one seriously injured after truck sinks in Okanagan Lake

A 23-year-old Kelowna man’s truck went airborne into Okanagan Lake and sunk 30 feet from shore on Friday afternoon.

RCMP say the man was driving south on Highway 97 near Renfrew Road, south of Peachland, at about 1:10 p.m. when he suddenly veered across the highway and into the lake.

“A witness, who saw the incident, saw that the driver was able to get out of the vehicle and swim to shore,” said Const. Steve Holmes. “He was taken to Kelowna General Hospital for non-serious injuries to his wrist and nose.”

Police say they are are investigating whether or not the crash may have been an intentional act.
