Police find robbery suspect

A 43-year-old West Kelowna man faces potential charges

West Kelowna RCMP located the suspect of an armed robbery which took place May 22.

At 1:19 a.m., police received a report of a robbery committed at the Shell Gas Station located in the 2500 block of Dobbin Road.

Police determined the suspect entered the business, produced a knife, demanded money and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The lone store clerk was not injured during the incident.

“A West Kelowna mountie located a male matching the suspect’s description,within blocks of where the alleged robbery had been committed,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “That suspect was taken into police custody without incident. Police service dog Fitz was brought to the scene and performed a confirmation track which led from the targeted business to the suspect.”

A 43-year-old West Kelowna man faces potential charges. He is expected to appear in court today.
