Police are looking for anyone who may have witnessed a serious bicycle crash on Spiers and Gulley roads Tuesday.

Shortly before 7 a.m., the cyclist who crashed, a 47-year-old woman, was riding down Spiers Road when she slipped away from her riding partner. When the friend caught up, she was lying in the intersection badly injured.

A tall, thin non-Caucasian man with a heavy accent offered assistance and helped the friend as they waited for emergency crews to arrive. He was associated to a blue truck or van and disappeared before first responders arrived.

“The victim remains in hospital with serious, but non-life threatening head injuries and is expected to recover,” said Const. Steve Holmes, Kelowna RCMP spokesperson.

The RCMP would like to speak with the driver of the blue truck or van and any other witnesses who may have noticed the incident.

Please contact the Central Okanagan Traffic Services Office at 250-980-5353 with any information.
