The temporary exchange area on Ellis between Doyle and Bernard will no longer be served by transit.

The Queensway transit exchange (Queensway Ave between Pandosy and Ellis) will re-open to transit users, coinciding with summer transit service changes on Sunday, April 26.

The temporary exchange area on Ellis between Doyle and Bernard will no longer be served by transit.

Features of the improved Queensway exchange include a unique, all-weather wood structure above the existing transit island platform and new transit-only access to and from Ellis Street with enhanced pedestrian crossings.

BC Transit’s summer service schedule is in effect starting Sunday, April 26 with select routes seasonally discontinued, including #13 Quail Ridge and #6 Glenmore/UBCO and the discontinuation of #4 Pandosy/UBCO effective June 29. Service will resume in September. Check out all Kelowna transit routes and schedule changes at www.bctransit.com/regions/kel.

BC Transit and its local government partners in the Kelowna region are working together to match service levels with customer demand. During the slower, summer season transit service hours are reduced so that added service hours are available during peak ridership from September to June.

A $5.6 million investment in Queensway transit exchange and road upgrades is part of BC Transit’s RapidBus Phase Two and Three Project.

The improvements will provide ease of transfer with amenities to provide a comfortable and convenient environment for transit patrons, operators and security personnel.

Kelowna RapidBus is a partnership between Transport Canada, the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, City of Kelowna, District of West Kelowna, Westbank First Nation and BC Transit. In total, the project will receive up to $46 million from federal, provincial and local partners. For more information on the Queensway Transit Improvements Project, visit www.kelownarapidbus.ca.
