Paramedics place 73-year-old pedestrian who was struck by an SUV in the Orchard Plaza parking lot on a stretcher.

Senior struck by SUV in parking lot

A 73-year-old woman was taken to Kelowna General Hospital with undetermined injuries after she was struck this afternoon by a vehicle outside the Zellers store in the Orchard Plaza parking lot in Kelowna.

The senior was hit by another woman driving a Saturn SUV, who blamed the sun temporarily blinding her sightline, making the pedestrian hard to see crossing the traffic lane.

Police said the age of the pedestrian placed an added concern about how serious she was injured.
