On Aug. 14, at 9 a.m., Kelowna RCMP were called to a third floor apartment on the 1000 block of Harvey Avenue to investigate a “shots fired” complaint.
The complainant advised police that he and his wife had been awakened when they heard a loud noise around 2:45 a.m. Not suspecting anything serious, and thinking it was the family cat, they decided to go back to sleep. When they got up later in the morning they noticed that the patio door glass had “spiderweb cracks” and a small hole in it.
Police have seized a projectile from the livingroom wall and will send it to the forensics lab for analysis.
Police believe that the shot likely came from Harvey Avenue.
It is important to note that police are not linking this incident to the fatal shooting of a known gangster on Sunday at the Delta Grand Hotel.
The complainant and his wife are not known to police and this does not appear to be a targeted shooting.
Police have conducted neighborhood inquiries and are asking for public assistance in order to solve this investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or enter the Crime Stoppers web site to text your tip.
