A man faces potential charges while a victim, who underwent emergency surgery, remains in hospital in stable condition after allegedly being stabbed early Sunday morning.

On Jan. 8, 2016 at 4:47 a.m., the Kelowna RCMP responded to a 911 call from a home in the 1200 block of Belgo Road in Kelowna, where police were told a man had been stabbed. Police entered the residence and located the man, inside a bedroom of the home, who appeared to be suffering from an apparent stab wound.

Preliminary information from witnesses at the scene suggest that the victim and the suspect were involved in a verbal argument, which quickly escalated to a physical confrontation where the victim was allegedly stabbed by the suspect, said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, media relations officer for the Kelowna RCMP.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital by emergency paramedics where he underwent emergency surgery. He remains in stable condition at this time, Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said.

The suspect, a 27-year-old Kelowna man, was arrested without incident at the scene. He remains in police custody at this time, faces potential charges and is expected to appear in Court today.
