Sir Anthony Hopkins checks out some local wares while shopping at the Village Green Centre Monday morning.

Star sighting

Sir Anthony Hopkins is in Vernon, getting ready for the filming of Go With Me

Few people actually recognized the 76-year-old star, as he donned a newsboy cap and sunglasses in Vernon today.

Sir Anthony Hopkins was spotted at the Village Green Centre, picking up a warm beverage at Starbucks with his wife before doing some shopping.

“We just got into town,” said Hopkins, who is in town for the filming of Go With Me, mainly in Lumby and Enderby.

The Oscar-winning star was recognized by a few patrons, but slipped past some, including the baristas who couldn’t believe they had just served him.

One patron who did recognize the star said by the way he dressed, talked and acted, you wouldn’t have known he was a star.

“My daughter went over to him and he seemed very nice,” said the Starbucks customer.

Go With Me, which starts production Wednesday, is a thriller based on a best-selling book.

Enderby native Rick Dugdale, president of Hollywood-based Enderby Entertainment, will serve as producer for the film.

Hopkins is starring in the film alongside Ray Liotta and Julia Stiles.
