  • Jan. 22, 2016 5:00 p.m.

A Crawford Estates homeowner watched someone hop into his wife’s PT Cruiser and drive away this morning.

The resident, who lives in the 1500-block of Sunridge Court, told police he woke up to the sound of a noise in his house, and when venturing out to investigate, saw what he described as “a shadow” of a person getting into the vehicle and driving away.

Police were called and followed up, locating the vehicle in the Kettle Valley area before losing visual contact. A containment perimeter was set up and the vehicle was eventually found abandoned on SouthCrest Drive. With help from area residents, police were able to locate and arrest a 34-year-old Kelowna man who now faces potential charges or break and enter and theft of an auto.
