UBC president coming to Kelowna

Santa Ono will speak at two upcoming events next week, one hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and the other by UBC Alumni.

UBC President Santa Ono will be speaking at two events in Kelowna next week.

UBC president Santa Ono will share his vision of the priorities and interests of the university for the future at a Kelowna event next week.

Ono will be the keynote speaker at UBC Alumni event on Thursday, Oct. 27, 7:30 p.m., at the Coast Capri Hotel, 1171 Harvey Ave.

Ono is UBC’s 15th president and vice-chancellor, having taken office in August.

Ono said he hopes to gather input from UBC alumni and community members on how to continue to strengthen the university on both campuses.

Ono is an accomplished researcher and educator, and a firm believer that dialogue is crucial for sharing ideas and bringing about transformation.

Ono will also be the guest speaker at th Kelowna Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Friday, Oct. 28—beginning at 11:45 a.m.

The theme of his presentation to the Chamber audience will be UBC’s contribution to economy innovation.
