UPDATE: Body found on Kelowna’s Black Mountain identified

The deceased positively identified the body at 3 p.m. Friday, June 25 at Sandra McLaughlan.

On June 20, at 1:43 p.m., the Kelowna RCMP were called to an undeveloped area on Black Mountain for a report of a body found.

Sadly the RCMP now confirm that the deceased has been positively identified as missing person, Sandra McLaughlan, Const. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a press release.

Sandra’s next of kin has now been notified of her passing.

The Kelowna RCMP will continue to assist the BC Coroners Service in its investigation.

RCMP are currently on scene and investigating after the discovery of a body early Monday afternoon.

The Kelowna RCMP were called at  1:43 p.m. Monday to an undeveloped area on Black Mountain for a report of a body found.

“The Kelowna RCMP are currently on scene investigating at this time,” said Const. Jesse O’Donaghey, in a press release.

“The RCMP are awaiting the arrival of the BC Coroner’s Service and have not yet confirmed a gender or an age of the deceased person. Police are treating the death as suspicious at this time until proven otherwise.”

The investigation is in its early stages and the RCMP will provide updated information as it becomes available.
