The man arrested and charged with firearms offences in Friday’s police raid on a Hein Road home is the same man who spent time behind bars for manslaughter in 2010.

Daniel Mader is considered a career criminal who was convicted of helping to kill Jody Elliot. After being released from prison in 2013, Mader stole a truck, lead police on a chase and smashed into an officer’s vehicle.

The chase began after police spotted the stolen truck at a home they were surveilling on Hein Road.

A semi-automatic handgun was seized from a home on Hein Road during a police raid last Friday.

RCMP executed a search warrant on the house, arresting two men and four women. One of the suspects is alleged to have been in possession of illicit drugs, including cocaine and heroin.

Daniel Mader, 33, has been charged with failure to comply with a probation order, along with countless firearms offences. He remains in custody and will appear in court on Jan. 16.

Shannah Mccray, 30, was also charged with firearms related offences. She has been released on strict conditions and will also appear in court on Jan. 16.

While 25-year-old Rebecka Hill has been charged with breach of recognizance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. She will appear in court on Jan. 19.
