If you are a James Bond fan, the North Okanagan Hospice Society has the ticket.
The society is launching its first major fundraiser since COVID-19 restrictions, ending a decade long run of “Dancing with the Vernon Stars.”
“From Hospice with Love” will be held at the Prestige Vernon Lodge and Conference Centre on Saturday, Sept. 23.
The event will feature a red-carpet walk, champagne wall, gourmet dinner by Noir Kitchen, an 11-piece dance band – “The Legendary Lake Monsters” – featuring Bond movie themes, Okanagan Casino Parties, a Daniel Craig lookalike, silent and live bucket list auctions.
“We’re trying to move away from stuff that people don’t really need and keep it more aligned with hospice, in that we’re trying to de-stigmatize death and have more bucket list experiences (for auction),” society executive director Lisa Matthews said. “So, we’re thinking, before I die, I’d like to go sky diving, or downhill skiing, those kinds of things.”
The “Sky Fall” package features a tandem skydive experience from Okanagan Skydiving Drop Zone. “License to Grill” features a high-end barbecue from Valley Grills and a meat package from Valley Direct Foods. “Diamonds Are Forever” includes a two-night stay at Sparkling Hill Resort and diamonds.
Tickets are on sale now through Ticket Master.
