A 38-year-old man and his 23-year-old girlfriend have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking after police executed a search warrant on their downtown apartment earlier this month.

Matthew Schrader was living in a luxury apartment in the 1300-block of Ellis Street with his 23-year-old girlfriend, Janay Pratt, and an unnamed 15-year-old boy when police executed a search warrant on the home seizing a large quantity of drugs.

In all, 33 grams of crack cocaine, three grams of heroin, a bottle of suspected methadone, 11 cellular phones and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking was taken from the home and the two arrested.

Schrader has well documented links to several different organized crime groups, though police have not said what his relationship to the 15 year old is, noting only that the Ministry of Children and Family Development has been notified.

Schrader and Pratt have both been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. They have both been released by the court on strict conditions and are scheduled to appear in Kelowna Provincial Court on Apr. 15th, 2013.
