West Kelowna police seek suspect after man stabbed

RCMP believe they know the suspect they are looking for, but need your help to locate him.

Police are searching for a suspect after a 62-year-old West Kelowna man was stabbed earlier this month.

On Sunday, Jan. 11, at 3:28 p.m., the West Kelowna RCMP received a report of a stabbing at Sidney’s Swap & Shop, at 2474 Main St.

A lone, masked male suspect had entered the shop and asked for change before demanding money. Despite the suspect being given an undisclosed amount of cash, it is alleged that he produced a knife and stabbed a 62-year-old West Kelowna man.

The male suspect fled the scene on a bicycle and could not be located.

Although the suspect was wearing a mask, he is believed to be known to the staff as a homeless man living in the area.

He is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • 30-35 years
  • 5 ft 9 in (175 cm)
  • 154 lbs (70 kg)
  • Slim build
  • Last seen wearing a green hooded jacket.

Anyone with any information regarding the identity of the suspect or his whereabouts is asked to contact the West Kelowna RCMP, Cpl Podmoroff at 250-768-2880.

Remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
