Woman reported uninjured by bear in Ellison area of Kelowna

Initial reports said 30-year-old woman mauled by a bear in Ellison area.

Unconfirmed reports which said a bear had mauled a woman in the Ellison area of Kelowna, have proved incorrect.

“We were advised that a bear had mauled a 30-year-old worker and was charging other workers in the orchard,” said Const. Kris Clark.

However, it appears this was not the case.

A bear was reported in the area of Old Vernon Road between Spender Road and Black Road, east of the Kelowna Airport just before 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Police and conservation officers responded to the call; no one was injured.
