October 9, 1927 – April 26, 2022
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Anna Ulmer (Hollasch) announce her passing on April 26, 2022 in Kelowna BC, at the age of 94 years. Anna was predeceased by her parents Ludwig and Emilie, her brothers Albert and Woldemar, her sister Gertrude, and her nephew Ode (Ronnie) Reinhold Menge. She leaves behind to grieve their immense loss her loving husband Heinrich of 67 years, children Monica, Harry (Dan), Doris (Rob), and Barbara. Also left to carry her memory are her grandchildren Matthew (Jenna), Brendan (Rachel), Joseph (Sarah), Stephen (Jasmine), Joshua (Corina), Samuel (Eva) and Emma, and her great-grandchildren Cassie and Edwyn and a baby girl due in July. She is survived by her sister, Ida (Helene) Menge, her sisters-in-law Brigitte and Gertrude, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Anna will forever be remembered for her love of life and her generosity. She loved to dance, was an amazing baker, loved to garden and loved her flowers, enjoyed travel, and especially enjoyed camping and fishing with friends and family. Anna was a long-time member of the German Canadian Harmonie Club in Kelowna and gave freely of her time and effort toward its success.
Our family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Jennifer Verhelst, the palliative care team of Interior Health, and to the staff at Chartwell Chatsworth who were all so kind and loving to Anna in her last months of life.
A celebration of Anna’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 5 at Christ Lutheran Church in Kelowna, with refreshments immediately after and the internment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon.
