ARTHUR Winslow ROGERS

was born in Viceroy, Saskatchewan on April 4th, 1914 and died in Kelowna on July 26th, 2008 with his family at his side. In later years he was considered the patriarch of the Rogers clan. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Laurie Rogers, his sisters; Jean (Cap) Rieger, Ivy Storgaard, and Lillian Wanless, his brothers; Bob (Beverley), Bill (Joan) and Charlie (Jeanette), numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and John (Joan) Bundschuh, who were like a son and daughter to him and his wife. He was predeceased by his father in 1950, and his mother Emily in 1921, his step mother Kate in 1991, his brothers; Norman (Andrea), Adrian (Bertha), and John. Arthur came to Kelowna in 1920 and attended the East Kelowna School, worked in the orchard business until World War II where he served with the Canadian Army in the RCEME Corps. He married Laurie Coles in 1948 and purchased his own orchard in East Kelowna as well as worked for Sears for 25 years. Arthur and his wife Laurie were very active in the Kelowna Riding Club as well as staunch supporters of the SPCA. He was a member and treasurer of the East Kelowna Community Hall Assn. and participated in the East Kelowna Fall Fairs. He will be sadly missed by his family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Valleyview Funeral Home, 165 Valleyview Road with Rev. Gordon Fletcher officiating. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the loving staff at Cottonwoods Douglas Fir Hospice.
