With deep sadness we announce the death of Brian Russell, 66 (1943-2009). At 9:30, July 27, 2009 Dad slipped peacefully away, in the comfort of the Hospice in Kelowna BC. He is survived by Lynne, his wife of 44years & his daughter Amanda, son David and his wife Tricia, son Stephen and adoring grandchildren, Brittany, Riley, Brianna and Cooper, and all the pets (all of Kelowna). Brian will also be missed by his sister, Brenda and her husband Norman (West Kelowna) and his brother Barry and his wife Georgie (England/Turkey) Dad brought us to Canada from England in 1976 to work for Alcan in Kemano, BC, where he made lifelong friends. From ’81 to ’06 he showed us some wonderful communities throughout Northern BC and Alberta while he worked for various lumber companies. He was known as an intelligent and handsome man with a great sense of humour and a perfectionist in everything that he did. He was an electrician by trade but he could fix or make anything. He taught us to always use the right tool for the job, measure 50 times and cut once and a dime is not a washer. Dad worked hard all his life to keep us happy and safe and lived to work, he enjoyed his work and the many friends he made. He taught us by example through his dedication to family, work ethic integrity and honesty. We are so proud of him for the life he lived and the courage he showed throughout his battle with cancer.
We will miss him very much always Donations can be
made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Kelowna Hospice
Society in lieu of flowers. We would like to sincerely thank the entire staff at the Kelowna Hospice (especially Caroline), and amazing facility with an incredible staff that we are lucky to have, also the palliative team at IHA that helped us keep dad at home until the final 2 weeks.
We would also like to sincerely thank Dr.’s Oswald and Dr. Halperin for their professionalism and compassion.
