CATHY Anne Person Paeth went to be with her Lord on March 29, 2008 at her home in Lake Country, British Columbia following breast cancer.

She was 52 years old. Cathy was born to Douglas and Mary Person in Lynwood, CA on January 20, 1956, the first of four children. She grew up in Santa Cruz, graduating from Santa Cruz High in 1974 and was named that city’s Miss Congeniality. She attended Stanford University, receiving a B.A. in music in 1978 while earning a Varsity letter in swimming. She added a M.A. with departmental honours in 1979 (education) while teaching at St. Joseph’s of Cupertino, CA, teaching for five years. She was married in 1983 in Santa Cruz to Alan Paeth of Seattle. They moved to Waterloo, Ontario as landed immigrants where Alan pursued his Ph.D in Computer Science. On completion they moved to Kelowna where she was naturalized as a citizen. For many summers she taught canoeing as “Clipper” at Columbia Bible Camp. She served as a member (violin) of the Kelowna Symphony. Her father Douglas Person preceded her in death in 1980. She is survived by her husband Alan and their four children: Scott, Douglas, Natalie and Katherine Abigail, all of Lake Country; her mother Mary Person Moe and Henning Moe of Santa Cruz, CA, Brian Person (Judy) of Sunnyvale, CA, sisters Carolyn Taylor (Bill) of Del Mar, CA and Martha Mehr (Bob) of Novato, CA and Sheila Moe Bryant of Santa Cruz. The words of Paul of Tarsus serve as a fitting eulogy:

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.” We will always remember Cathy for her smile, her warm words and her music. A memorial service open to the public will be held at New Life Church 2041 Harvey Avenue Kelowna, BC. Charitable donations may be made to Cathy’s Thailand Dream c/o Hope for the Nations 2041 Harvey Avenue Kelowna, BC V1Y 6G7 (250) 712-2007
