SCHMIDT CLEMENTINE (CLEMY)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on September 25th 2013 of our loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother after a courageous battle with cancer. Her last days were spent in KGH with family constantly
at her side. She was born in Kroneau SK. on July 29th 1923. At a very young age she had to go to work but fortunately, she had a wonderful boss who taught her bookkeeping and accounting skills which she maintained throughout her life and carried into her own business. She met the man of her dreams Peter Schmidt and moved to Calgary where they were married on October 23, 1943. They had 2 children Carolyn & Lowell. They spent most of their working years in Carstairs, Grande Prairie, and Fort St. John area. After
Pete passed away in 1983, Clemy moved to Prince George for 6 years to be near family and then to Kelowna where she has resided for the past 23 years. She was such a loving, caring and generous person who always had compassion for the less fortunate and had numerous charities she supported. She was a member of the CWL at St. Theresa’s Parish. She was dearly loved and remembered by her children, Carolyn (Garry) Delaney of Kamloops, Lowell (Irene) Schmidt of Surrey; grandchildren, Kevin (Aleta)Delaney of Kelowna, Denton (Michelle) of Quesnel, Carey (Shelby) of Maple Ridge, David Schmidt and Kelli Husband of Vancouver, Amanda (Raihan) Kabir of Surrey; great grandchildren, Bretton, Jordan,Brooklyn, Keira, Cassandra, Beckett and Rosemary and baby Delaney due soon. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Schachtel, Lorraine Sherritt, brothers, Johnny Schneider, Tony and sister-in-law Lorraine Schneider, sisters-in-law Anne Bergen and Ruth Thompson and brother-in-law Cornelius Bergen. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Christina (Ebenal) Schneider;
husband, Peter Schmidt; sisters, Fran Klotz, Irene Degelman, Clara Selinger, Berdy Mayer and brothers-in-law, John Schachtel, George Degelman, Adam Mayer, Jack Sherritt, Peter Klotz, Phil Selinger and sister-in-law Pauline Schneider. Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated at St. Theresa’s Church 750 Rutland Road N. Kelowna on Friday, October 4th, at 2 p.m. Reception to follow in church lower level. Rite of Committal at St. Theresa’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Charity of choice.
